Week Of September 23rd

Week Of September 23rd
Fr Aidan Peter Writes:

Last week you received the first handout about out Stewardship program, from now until Christmas, called:

Growing as Family, Building our Future, Witnessing Faith

That sheet asked you to think and ponder your own talents and gifts from God and how you might offer them to the life of the Church. We continue this process with a need to reflect further on our talents and perhaps more honestly with the most precious thing we possess, our time.

Next weekend there will be at the English Masses a brochure about all the many ways you can be involved in parish life. There a multitude of opportunities to be involved at a level you can sustain: liturgical, practical, catechetical, social, administrative, prayerful… the list could be endless. Perhaps there are new ministries/activities we are not doing that you could help with…?

So look at last week’s Ponder Points and this week’s so that next weekend you will come to Mass prepared to commit yourself to furthering the mission of Christ here in our parish. It is a mission we are all called to, not just the pastoral team. This is what it truly means to be a disciple, to follow Christ by offering out talents and time for His glory and the building of the Kingdom. Please come prepared to deepen you discipleship at Mass next weekend.

Members of our Youth group attended this Saturday Bp Robert’s youth gathering at Ojai. He called on our youth in the parish and region to talk with him about their issues, their dreams and their hopes for the Church so that he would go better prepared for the Synod of Bishops on Youth  and Vocations this October in Rome.

May God bless you, your families, and the week ahead,

Fr Aidan Peter
