In four weeks’ time we will be enjoying our Parish Festival. The theme this year is “Fall”. I want to thank Jake and his team for all the hard work so far in preparing for this event. The Festival this year unfortunately clashes on the same weekend as the Santa Maria Air Show. Please can I ask you to have a wonderful family fun time that week end … and if you want to go to the airshow, do so on the Saturday and come to the Festival on the Sunday!
There are plenty of ways you can help out on the day. Please sign up for an hour or two by looking at the Festival notice board and choose one of the many volunteer opportunities available. The festival cannot work without parishioners helping.
This week in the bulletin you will find two inserts. They both in a way refer to different aspects of Stewardship. This is actually our theme for the next four months through to the end of the year. We will be using the “Our Sunday Visitor” process. This involves a process of raising our awareness of what we can offer to forward the mission of the Church, especially in our own community. This will lead to a new opportunity to offer to Christ, alive in our community, some of the gifts of our time and talents to further the Kingdom in our parish and witness it in our neighborhood. Obviously, this will lead us to reflect on how we are utilizing our resources and also what we need to realize some of our dreams as a parish.
The second sheet has the information about how we can make our parish offerings on line. This has already proven to be a very effective way of dealing with money. It really makes both the giver and the receiver’s lives so much easier all round.
May God bless you, your families, and the week ahead,
Fr Aidan Peter
