This week at Mass one of the psalm responses was “The Lord takes delight in his people”. Well, all I can say is “He sure does, especially this bunch of people at St Louis de Montfort Parish”! I say this because, yet again, I have been overwhelmed by the response the parish made to honor the canonization of St Mother Teresa of Calcutta through a mercy drive for clothing and toiletries. Lou’s Grotto is full of donations which will be dispersed to Catholic Worker and Catholic Charities this week. In this Year of Mercy, we have certainly responded with corporate works of mercy. May God bless you all for your compassion. I want to thank all who helped with this effort and those who put on a showing of the movie, The Letters, about the life of Mother Teresa. It was a very powerful film, helping us to understand Mother’s spiritual journey with its difficulties, alongside her active apostolate for the poorest of the poor.
Speaking of active apostolate [you see what I did there with the link!], on the weekend 17/18 we will be holding a ministries fair after all Masses at St Louis. Can I ask you at this stage to really think about and pray about what it is that you could do to build up the parish as an expression of the Kingdom of God. There will be opportunities to help with liturgical ministries, catechetics, prayer and personal development, visiting etc. It is also a chance to get to know the things that are being done for the glory of God in your name and various things happening in the parish that can benefit you and or your family.
God bless you, your families, and the week ahead.
May God bless you, your families, and the week ahead,
