We have just celebrated the twin liturgical moments of All Saints followed by All Souls. The former is a great Feast honoring those men and women, our elder brothers and sisters in faith who have been courageous in faith either as martyrs or addressing great issues such as poverty, education, health, or great missionaries, theologians, founders of religious orders and movements within the Church. We honor them and call upon their intercession for us at the throne of the God of Compassion and mercy. The following day we commemorated the Holy Souls, all those journeying to heaven. We do so in the hope of the mercy and forgiveness of God. Jesus tells us in John’s Gospel that he has gone to prepare a place for us and when the time comes will take us to himself. Our destiny therefore is glory, “through him, with him, and in him”.
I will be away from the parish in Europe in my role as Vicar General of the Josephite Fathers from the 8th of November and will back in time for the 6pm Mass on the Feast of Christ the King, Nov 26th. As usual I ask you to help Frs John and Alfred in my absence.
May God Bless You and Your Families,
