Fr. Aidan Writes:
We have several reasons to be praying this week. Firstly, we pray in thanksgiving for all the children and their families who made First Holy Communion this Saturday. May they all grow in their love of the real presence of Christ in the Mass. Secondly, next Saturday 100 confirmandi receive the sacrament after two years of preparation. We pray that they will grow in their love of Christ, His Way and His Holy Church.
As an Englishman, I also ask your prayers for King Charles, crowned this Saturday. I know that historically the USA and Kings had some issues a little while back, but today we should pray for all leaders of peoples. May Charles, with Camilla at his side, be a good King and Queen, blessed with health, wisdom and a real and dutiful love for the people of Great Britain and beyond.
I also ask you for your prayers for myself. Some of you know that I have been carrying a health issue that has been getting progressively worse for some months. I have a serious radiation burn on my bladder. This Wednesday, I will be undergoing a procedure under general anesthetic to try and alleviate the problems I have been experiencing. I will be taking a period of sick leave afterwards, away from parish duties until the end of the month. Please pray for the effectiveness of this procedure; if it does not work I am facing a considerably larger and life changing operation, which fills me with dread. Thank you and bless you for your prayers… without fuss!
God bless you and your families,
Fr Aidan-Peter CJ
