Fr. Aidan Writes:
Lent is up and running, we are already in week two. In this Sunday’s Gospel, we hear of the Transfiguration of Jesus up Mt Tabor. St Peter exclaims, “It is good for us to be here.” I received a very nice compliment about our parish this week from the team that delivered the Estate Planning Seminars; they said that they were amazed to see how active the parish was! It is a sign that we are really picking up and getting on with life. So, it is good to be here at SLdM! But, this parish life needs to be supported by two or three things. Firstly, more people need to come to events/programs etc, more people need to volunteer to help and, thirdly, we need to support this reengagement spiritually. That’s why we have our Lenten Mission.
This week, Monday, Tuesday and Wednesday, we have our Lent Mission:
This is being given by Dominican Friar, Father Dominic DeMaio.
“DISCOVER NEW LIFE, A LIVING ENCOUNTER WITH JESUS.”
This promises to be a very good mission. I know the Advent mission did not go so well, but Fr Dominic really has proven effective as he has just finished leading this mission with our Hispanic community.
SO EVERYONE, PLEASE MAKE A SERIOUS EFFORT TO COME to this mission. We have not had one like this for three years now because of CoVid etc, so WE ALL NEED THIS! See inside for details of times, etc.
Also, thank you for showing your care for the earthquake victims in Syria and Turkey. We have raised around $2,900 which will be sent off straight away.
God bless,
Fr Aidan Peter
May God bless you, your families, and the week ahead,
Fr Aidan Peter
