Well, we have come to the end of the cycle of Advent and Christmas. Today’s feast of the Baptism of the Lord is also the first Sunday in Ordinary time. This Feast reminds us of the start of things, especially the start of our life of Faith as a daughter or son of our Heavenly Father. Perhaps for us Christians this should be the day we make resolutions, not New Year’s Day! Perhaps we can look at one aspect of our life of faith and make some resolution for ourselves to grow in that area, whatever it may be.
I want to also thank you for your response to the Josephite Africa Appeal, your kind generosity has raised $28,282. This is much needed for the running of our missions in Africa. I will be able to see that money at work very soon; I am leaving again in my role as Vicar General, to visit Cameroon and meet our confreres working in the four missions we have there and the new school at Kosa that the local Bishop has asked us to administer. I will be away from the parish from the 16th of January (this Wednesday) until the evening of 11th February. I will be going to Cameroon with Fr General. Please pray for me whilst I am away.
Fr Armand will write next week’s piece for the Bulletin, introducing himself to you. He is settling in well and will soon move over to live in the rectory. We still have to organize various administrative things such as Soc. Security, DMV, Virtus, Medical Insurance….you name it we’ve gotta do it! Please make him most welcome.
May God bless you, your families, and the week ahead,
Fr Aidan Peter
