Fr. Aidan Writes:

To everyone,
On behalf of all the priests, deacons and staff of St Louis de Montfort parish I wish you all a Merry Christmas and a Happy New Year when it comes.

Christmas is the celebration of the incarnation, when Christ comes into the world. It might be worth reflecting upon what kind of a world it was then and what it is like now. Have things gotten better? What needs to be rethought? What needs to be done with? And what do we need to start doing? This celebration comes after a very tricky year. Last Christmas, we celebrated Christmas on Livestream, we had Masses in the parking Lot. We had a tentative start, then a return to restrictions, then a slow return to normal and the hope of better things to come. We now face another variant of the disease so we, again, are not completely over with this virus, nor are we at ease. We have also witnessed an array of international situations and political machinations from all sides of the political spectrum which have disillusioned us.

But in all this we have had St Joseph, who at Christmas comes into his own as the protector of the Holy Family. Though the formal Church year of St Joseph has finished, we should keep him close through 2022 as we take serious strides as a parish community to rebuild ourselves to be the shining light to the nations here in the Orcutt hills.

God bless you all and your families this Christmas season.

May God bless you, your families, and the week ahead,
