It was wonderful to witness one of creation’s great displays, the eclipse last week. I managed to get quite a good photo of it through the clouds from the back door of the rectory. In the past, this type of natural event would be considered a sign or portent of God’s favor or displeasure. But of course for us it is a won- derful aspect of the glory of the created universe. It perhaps reminds us that the beauty of creation should be tended with great care, as Pope Francis has remind- ed us.
It is with great joy that for the next two weeks we wel- come Fr Jacob, the Superior General of the Josephites, on his canonical visitation to the California Region of the Josephites. Fr Jacob, who was born and raised in Congo, was Fr Robert’s Vicar General (the post I now hold) and has been a former Superior of the Congo region. Fr Jacob has lived in Belgium for several years and continues to live at our Generalate in Gerrardsber- gen today. He is a man of wisdom, integrity and en- thusiasm for the Josephite Spirit and apostolates. I know he will receive a great welcome here.
May God Bless You and Your Families,
Fr. Aidan Peter, CJ
