Teaching, Touching Safety (TTS Training) Class Mandatory March 19th at 7:00pm – 7:30pm
Dear parents of Confirmation year 1 and year 2 teens,
All parishes and schools in the Archdiocese of Los Angeles are required to provide for the safety of all children and teens under 18 when they are in the care of the parish or school. There are several aspects of the safety plan including Protecting God’s Children training, finger printing and background check of all employees and volunteers as well as a program for all children and teens annually called “Teaching Touching Safety”. The TTS program includes a variety of lessons to teach them to stay safe.
Ordinarily this TTS training happens in all Religious Education and Confirmation groups in the fall. An oversight occurred during the transition of Kelly McLoughlin’s departure in October and the training was not conducted for your teens.
This training is NOT OPTIONAL as the Archdiocese mandates ALL parishes and schools to hold the training annually in all programs and grade levels.

The training for ALL year 1 and year 2 Confirmation in our process will be held on MONDAY, MARCH 19th at 7:00-7:30pm in the parish hall. Please complete the attached permission slip and send it with your son or daughter to the session on 3/19.

We will be covering lesson 8 this year. Here is some information about lesson 8.
Principle: Educating children about Internet Safety.
Specifically: 1) Some Do’s and Don’ts of interacting with people on the Internet, and 2) The importance of protecting yourself and your personal information while using the Internet.
Catechism: According to the fourth commandment, God has willed that, after him, we should honor our parents and those whom he has vested with authority for our good. #2248
Goal: To assist parents, guardians, and other caring adults in teaching children and young people the importance of creating and following family rules in the effort to keep everyone safe.
Objectives: Upon completion of this lesson, children and young people should be better able to: ƒ Participate in the creation of family rules for everyone. ƒ Following the rules set by parents and guardians means being careful about how they share information with anyone outside the family.
