We are excited to have everyone’s smiling faces return to class this week after Easter break. We have three weeks of classes remaining this school year this week 4/26 & 4/27, 5/3 & 5/4 and final class is 5/10 & 5/11. We say it all the time but it is so true, life moves FAST!
Join us THIS Thursday, April 27th from 6:30-8:00pm in the Parish hall for a talk on Human Trafficking and what we can do to fight it and keep our children safe (flyer attached). Our Guest Speaker is Sister Stella Enright DMJ, a Daughter of Mary and Joseph with years of experience in educating children and parents on a range of topics related to keeping children safe. Don’t miss out on this very informative talk. (This will be the final parent Faith Growth Opportunity for the RE year. Attending counts as a Faith Growth opportunity for RE parents of year 1 & year 2 Communion students. One is required each year.)
1st Communion Prayer Partners: Banners are in the church with pictures of each of the children receiving their First Communion on May 13th. We are asking parishioners to sign up to be prayer partners for the children. Thank you in advance for praying for these special young people receiving the sacrament.
Year 1 Communion Parent Meeting is NEXT WEEK on Monday, May 1st 7:00-8:00pm OR Wednesday, May 3rd 7:00-8:00pm This meeting is REQUIRED for parents to attend (parents only attend the meeting please) to have your son/daughter advance from year 1 Communion to year 2. Please attend on either Monday 5/1 or Wednesday 5/3. Father Aidan has decided to begin meeting with the year 1 Communion parents each year. Normally this meeting will be held closer to the beginning of the year but, this year we will hold it on the dates listed. Please email me with any questions. kelly@sldm.org
Year 2 Communion Parents: The star program has officially begun. Reminder: this program is for ALL children from Religious Education classes and the SLdM school who are preparing for First Communion in May*.
You and your child can attend ANY of the Masses in our parish on the weekend beginning with the Saturday 5:00pm Mass and ending with the Sunday 6:00pm Mass.
There is a small basket of stars on the counter in the back of the church near the restrooms. The stars are divided by Wednesday/Thursday and school. They are in alphabetical order in their divided sections. Once you and your child find their star, then they walk up the middle aisle, bow just as they reach the altar area and then turn left and walk over to the basket near the foot of the Confirmation cross (left side of the altar below statue of St. Joseph and St. Louis de Montfort). If you have any questions, let me know.
*The star program will be in place for ALL children in the Religious Education classes and SLdM school starting in the fall.
