Parent Update 3/22/16

Holy Week blessings everyone,

We have begun our Easter Break: We have NO CLASSES TOMORROW or Thursday, March 23rd & 24th. As well as no classes the weeks of March 30/31 and April 6/7. Classes resume from Easter break April 13/14.

Please follow this link to see the schedule for Holy week services and all of the Easter Masses. http://sldm.org/palm-sunday-holy-week-and-easter-schedule-2016/ This week is a beautiful week in the life of our Catholic church. We encourage you to experience Holy week services with your children such as on Holy Thursday and Good Friday. It is a unique experience and helps to deepen our Lenten and Easter journey.

Thank you to everyone who turned in the filled rice bowls at class last week. The response was fantastic and we are so blessed with your generosity.

Thank you to everyone who supported Bald for Lexi 2016 in any way. Thanks to the amazing efforts of so many brave shavees, donors, volunteers and caring people we have raised over $58,000 and the figure is still climbing as cash & checks are continuing to be totaled from Saturday. The love, support and positivity in the room where people were gathered in unity to conquer childhood cancer is, to me, a glimpse into what heaven is like.

April is Child Abuse prevention month and each year or parish’s Safeguard the Children Committee sponsors an evening for parents focused on various strategies to keep our children safe. This year our event is Wednesday, April 27th from 6:30-8:00pm  in the Parish Hall and our Guest Speaker is Sandra Brown, a Santa Barbara County Sheriff’s Deputy with years of experience in educating parents on a range of topics related to keeping children safe. Don’t miss out on this very informative talk. (This will be the final parent Faith Growth Opportunity for the RE year. Attending counts as a Faith Growth opportunity for RE parents of year 1 & year 2 Communion students. One is required each year.)

EARLY REGISTRATION TIME for Religious Education classes & Junior High group: Parents can register their children early for the 2016-2017 classes which being after Labor day. Registering early makes it easier to choose the day of week you want your children to go to classes, gives you one less thing for your summer to do list and you receive an early bird discount of $5.00.  The last day for early registration discount is June 3rd. Once we return from Easter break, the RE Office is open for registration every Tuesday from 4:30-6:30pm, Wednesday from 3:00-5:30pm and Thursday from 5:00-8:00pm. Thought for the week: “And he departed from our sight that we might return to our heart, and there find Him. For he departed, and behold, He is here.” –St. Augustine

Tip of the week:  Many blessings to each of you for a beautiful Easter season. I wanted to share with you some family ideas for Easter. http://www.catholicfamilyfaith.org/easter.html

Blessings to all,

Kelly
