24 Hour Food Fast – SLDM & Los Alamos

March 31, 2017 @ 6:00 pm – April 1, 2017 @ 6:00 pm

This event takes place inside the gym of St Joseph High School. Participants raise money through donors and sponsors ($24 per person, that equals $1 per hour) to help Catholic Charities provide food and shelter for those in need in our society.  Participants fast for 24 hours and they get to experience what some of our homeless in our society experience on an everyday basis. Participants get to sleep there. This event is full of fun activities. There will be live music, games, a time for reflection and liturgy. We understand that some parents may be concerned with the idea of letting their teens go without eating for 24 hours. However, after consulting with some health professionals, we can say that this is perfectly safe. This event is open to other Confirmation Programs & Youth Ministries. The last time we had this event, we, along with St John Newmann, Queen of Angels, St Mary of the Assumption and Old Mission Santa Inez, raised over $5,300 dollars for Catholic Charities. Everyone that participates in the 24 Hour Food Fast will receive 3 project services.
